I have been an Independent Broker since 2007 and have owned my own Mortgage Brokerage since 2013. I started in finance and real estate 34 years ago while still in University!

What is your favorite service to offer?
I love helping first time home buyers. Overall, I enjoy helping anyone to fully understand the mortgage financing process whether that is renewing, refinancing, buying or setting up a Reverse Mortgage.

Tell me about your connection to the north shore?
I was born on Vancouver Island and moved to North Vancouver when I was 10 years only. Except for a brief stint ‘over the bridge’ in the 90’s, I have lived in North Vancouver for 44 years. I am a Handsworth Grad! Currently my family lives in the Seymour River area with our 2 dogs and we absolutely love our little piece of the Shore.

What is your favorite North Shore winter thing to do?
Snow shoe or snow hike Dog Mountain.

What is your favorite North Shore Summer thing to do?
I am a member of Deep Cove Kayak and I try to get out at least once a week for an evening of Kayaking “therapy” around the Cove and Indian Arm.

My very first job was for McDonalds as the character McEarly Bird. I later went on to serve fries and burgers at the Lonsdale location.

Robyn Affleck, Woven Mountain

Who are you?
Like most people wear many hats. I am a mother of 2 young boys and 1 goldendoodle. I am a full-time equity, diversity and inclusion strategist. I am the Chair of the Sherwood Park Elementary School PAC, and the Captain of a North Shore Women’s Soccer Team, and I am the artist and owner of Woven Mountain Fibre Arts.

What is your profession/business?
I am an equity, diversity, and inclusion strategist, as well as a small business owner and artist for Woven Mountain Fibre Arts, which is located in beautiful Deep Cove, North Vancouver.

How long have you been in that profession/business?
I have been doing art for as long as I can remember, however, I started my small business 3 years ago.

What is your favourite service to offer?
I have 2 favorites! I absolutely love creating custom art pieces that are created to fit the design, esthetic and feel that my clients are looking for. There is nothing like seeing the eyes of folks that have thought up their dream fibre art, and then having the dream become a reality.

My other favourite thing to do is to teach weaving to people of all ages. I love weaving and doing macrame and am thrilled to share this with others. I think weaving is a very accessible art form, that anyone can do, and I love teaching, and so if I can combine my love of weaving with my passion for teaching, I am a very happy Robyn 😊

Tell me about your connection to the north shore?
I moved to the Deep Cove 10 years ago and couldn’t picture living anywhere else in the world. I absolutely love all that the North Shore offers in terms of sense of community, connection and of course the breathtaking environment.

What is your favourite North Shore winter thing to do?
My most favourite thing to do in the winter on the North Shore is most definitely to ski. My family generally skis at Cypress Mountain, but we also love hitting up Mt.Seymour in the evenings, and Whistler during our Winter holidays.

What is your favorite North Shore Summer thing to do?
The North Shore has ‘so’ many amazing things to do in the Summer- where do I start?! I love hiking our local mountains, as well as mountain biking with my family along the beautifully laid-out trails on Seymour. I also really enjoy kayaking and paddle boarding in the evenings, as I watch the sunset with friends.

Tell us something about yourself that most people do not know?
When I wasn’t doing art as a child, you could find me skiing and playing soccer. Eventually, I made the Canadian National Freestyle Ski Team and represented Canada at many international competitions.
